HOUSTON, Jan. 30, 2024 /PRNewswire/ — The Houston Association of Realtors (HAR), considered the leading Realtor association in the nation, has announced that its President and CEO, Bob Hale, will be retiring in 2026. This marks the end of his remarkable 52-year tenure at HAR, with 37 of those years spent at the helm.

Hale is widely recognized as a trailblazer in the residential real estate industry in the United States. Under his leadership, HAR has become one of the most innovative real estate associations in the country, boasting a membership of over 51,000 and establishing itself as a household name in Greater Houston. One of his notable achievements was the launch of HAR.com in 1997, which attracts an estimated 6 million visitors each month and maintains Houston’s distinction as the only major city where a national portal is not the most visited real estate site.

Hale joined the HAR board of directors as legal counsel in 1973 and was later appointed as president and CEO in 1988, a position he continues to hold today. Throughout his career, Hale has received numerous accolades from the real estate and communication industries. He recently ranked 29th on the prestigious 2024 Swanepoel Power 200 (SP 200) list, which recognizes the most influential executives in the residential real estate brokerage industry. In 2003 and 2006, he was named one of the “25 Most Influential People in the American Real Estate Industry” by the National Association of Realtors’ (NAR) REALTOR® magazine. In 2008, Inman News honored him as the “Innovator of the Year.” Since 2005, Hale has consistently been recognized by Inman News as one of the “100 Most Influential Real Estate People.” In 2010, he received the Communication Leadership Award from the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC)-Houston.
